Ambassador J. Steven Rhodes – One Person Can Make A Difference Lecture Series

Happenings, Lecture Series, News
Come hear the behind the scenes story of how Ambassador Rhodes came to assume an instrumental role in the creation of the Martin Luther King National holiday.  Ambassador Rhodes is credited by many, especially in the White House of that era, with his appeal to President Reagan to sign into law the King Holiday Bill, designating the third Monday of January as a federal holiday in observance of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The backdrop Ambassador Rhodes and other advocates experienced was one of a contentious national debate but, in the end, reason and respect won the day. Lecture information is on the attached flyer as well as immediately below. Wednesday • February 22, 2023 Time 6:00 PM Format: Zoom  https://salisbury.zoom.us/j/96586484501
